Fiesta Friday- Tea Party Favors!

When I was in grade school, my mom always made friendship tea in cute tins for teacher gifts.  They were always a big hit.  So, when I was thinking about party favors for the Candy in Wonderland Tea Party, I remembered Mom's friendship tea and knew it was a perfect fit!

I shared the recipe for the mix with the other hostesses who put together the prettiest favors for the party.  Cat found some lovely cups and saucers and Lisa created the cute tags which coordinated with the darling invitations she made.

The mix is delicious and is perfect for Secret Santas, Bunco door prizes and Sunday school teacher gifts.   The fun is in finding cute containers to present it in!  To print out (and share) the friendship tea recipe, click on the card below.  Enjoy!

2 1/2 t. cinnamon

  2. I would love to make this for my daughter's teacher's (as a thank you to them, as she is leaving her therapy sessions in 2 weeks) But I have a question. For the instant tea and instant lemonade - do you use the ones without sugar?? I can imagine I can find the instant lemonade with no sugar package easily, but not sure about instant tea that way - any ideas?? Thanks!

  3. We've always used the kind with sugar. Have fun and thanks for visiting!

  4. You could make it without sugar but it would change the amounts of each ingredient and proportions. So take the above recipe and figure out how many servings are in each ingredient. Example: Lemonade Mix. Figure out haw many servings are in the 4 oz. package. Then use the same number of servings for the tea without sugar. The volume will be different so you will need to measure by servings. I have no idea how many servings are on a 4oz. container but let's say there are 10. So just figure out 10 servings of the non-sugar lemonade mix. Do this for each ingredient and you are good to go. Then when you have mixed your 'new' recipe figure out what size to use for each tea cup and note that. Be SURE to write down the amounts of each adjusted ingredient so you don't have to figure it out next time! I hope I didn't make it more confusing than it is. It is one of those things that is simple but I am explaining it so poorly that it becomes confusing! ;-D

    1. Ah! Ha ha! At least it's right on the recipe card. Hee hee. In two years you're the first to say anything! I'll fix it when I'm near a computer. Or maybe I'll leave it for another two years!

  6. Can this tea be used as a COLD tea, or just better as a HOT tea?

  7. My guess is that it is best as a hot tea, but I've never tried it cold. I'll give it a try and get back to you. Thanks!
