Music Flavor of the Month- Schoolhouse Rock!

This month's play list features the musical styling of the pop culture super series, Schoolhouse Rock! If you are a child of the 70s, you probably remember the educational cartoon shorts that played during the Saturday morning cartoons on ABC. If you sing "Conjunction Junction" to just about anyone, chances are they'll sing along. Isn't education groovy? Dig it.

Did you know...
* The first Schoolhouse Rock video was "Three is a Magic Number"?
* In 1996, a tribute album entitled "Schoolhouse Rock Rocks", featured covers by Moby, Blind Melon and Better Than Ezra.
* In 2009, Schoolhouse Rock will release a new album about conservation called "Schoolhouse Rock- Earth".

It's hard to pick a favorite, but I must say "Mother Necessity", "The Preamble" and "Conjunction Junction" are three of my faves. Which Schoolhouse Rock songs do you cherish?

  2. Wow thanks for the memories! Saturday cartoons rocked in the 70's. I like the "interjection" song the best. Wasn't there a guy wheeling a pice of cheese around in one of those? I just cant remember what the song was.

  3. Ha! What a funny visual! I remember an old lady in a rocking chair in "Mother Necessity". Isn't it funny the things we remember?

  4. Aw, I love Schoolhouse Rock! Thanks to that, I was the only person in one of my college history classes, who would recite the Preamble perfectly.

  5. Mine are "I'm just a bill" and the multiplication table. I would sit in government class and run schoolhouse rock through my head to help with tests. Schoolhouse Rock rocks!
